The Certificate Program is a customized, immersive, one-year internship experience designed to equip students for ministry. The goal of this program is for the student to experience ministry event planning, staff meetings, Sunday gatherings, groups, exclusive classes, and more. Students will be brought “behind the curtain” of Freedom Church’s day-to-day inner workings. They will graduate with a certificate of ministry training as well as a portfolio of completed projects.
All Associate, Bachelor, and Certificate students complete a practicum every semester. The practicum requires students to complete 100 hours of approved, documented ministry experience over the course of 12 weeks. Examples of approved experiences include: serving at Sunday gatherings or events, attending leadership lab, working on a ministry project, or leading a community group. Toward the end of a degree program, students have the opportunity to specialize their field of training to a specific track: Pastoral, Creative Arts, or Next Generation.

Our lead pastors, Wade and Dawn Haskins, followed God’s call to Maryland. Pastor Wade is originally from Houston, TX, but he developed a heart for the East Coast when he first came to Baltimore to become a youth pastor in 1998 after marrying his wife Dawn.
Wade and Dawn are the vision carriers of Freedom Church, which is to reach our region and beyond with the life-transforming message of Jesus. Freedom Church is a house of prayer and worship, where all generations can passionately pursue God’s presence until heaven meets earth.
Pastor Joshua’s passion for leadership & communication has afforded him opportunities to develop leaders and organizations all over the world. Yet, his favorite thing to do is help grow big people right here at home. Working with our Freedom College students is his greatest joy. When he’s not serving Freedom Church he enjoys hiking with his wife and German Shepherd and road trips with their two sons.
